Resident Profiles

Hope Children's Hospital trains new pediatricians in a medium-sized residency program. Each year, 13 residents graduate to practice in the community or pursue further training in fellowships while 13 new interns join the program each July 1 to start their three year journey.

	Tara Altepeter, MD Medical School: University of Illinois at Chicago - Rockford Campus Undergraduate Education and Major: Boston University - Business Administration/Finance What I Like about Hope: "What initially attracted me to hope was the amazing variety in pathology, and the one-on-one teaching from attendings. What turned out to be the best thing about Hope is the amazing people I work with!" Personal Interests: In her free time Tara loves to cook and is trying to learn to play the piano. She loves to travel. So far she has been to Mexico, Canada, DR, PR, Aruba, England France, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Pakistan. She can't wait to add to her list! Goals and Accomplishments: Next year Tara will be moving back East to pursue fellowship training in Peds GI at Dupont Children's Hospital in Wilmington, DE. She has published articles in Pediatric Surgery and Neoreviews during residency, and will be presenting a poster at this Year's NASPGHAN conference in Orlando
	Rinku Patel, DO Medical School: Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Illinois - Molecular and Integrated Physiology; Minor - Chemistry What I like about Hope: "Hope is a free-standing children's hospital with a staff committed to helping children." Personal Information: Rinku is known around the hospital for his constant pursuit of food and friends. Goals and Accomplishments: Rinku has published in Pediatrics in Review and is currently figuring out what aspect of general pediatrics he would like to emphasize in his career. Rinku also participates in the Pediatric Performance Improvement Committee.

	Alison Chase, DO Medical School: Virgina College of Osteopathic Medicine, Blacksburg VA Undergraduate Education and Major: Western Michigan University - Biomedical Science Hometown: Onekama, MI What I like about Hope: "I like how friendly and social everyone at Hope is. We get to see a wide variety of patients with a wide variety of pathology and we have fun doing it." Personal Information: Alison is known for her friendly demeanor and commitment to NICU babies, even if she has a temperature of 103. Alison also enjoys kissing rabbits. Goals and Accomplishments: Alison has an upcoming article accepted to Pediatrics in review and has participated in multiple poster presentations ranging in subject from Krabbe's Disease to ICE therapy.
	Nicole Keller, DO (Chief Resident 2012-2013) Medical School: Midwestern University - Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major:Loyola University of Chicago - Psych Hometown: Addison IL What I like about Hope: "As a third year medical student and Sub-I at Hope I really loved the 'family-feel', emphasis on academics and the diverse community population at Hope." Personal Information: Nicole lives on a 360 acre farm in Oswego with her husband and enjoys horseback riding. Goals and Accomplishments: Nicole plans to work in a rural community after residency. She is involved in a quality improvement project measuring implementation of better discharge summaries.
	Ali Ghazi-Askar, MD Medical School: The Chicago Medical School / Rosalind Franklin University Undergraduate Education and Major: UC Davis - Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior Hometown: Mesa, AZ What I like about Hope: "What I like about Hope is how dedicated everyone is to making sure that all of our patients get high quality care, and high quality video games." Personal Information: Ali is known for his large vocabulary and his devotion to his future wife, Anushka. Goals and Accomplishments: Ali will be starting a pediatric GI fellowship at University of Oklahoma and has presented a poster on Neonatal Hemochromatosis.
	Asneha Iqbal, MD Medical School: Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: John Carroll University, Biology Major, French Minor Hometown: Cleveland, OH What I like about Hope: "Hope has a wonderful teaching staff and exposure to a wide variety of complex subspecialty patients. The training I am getting at Hope will have me well prepared for starting fellowship." Personal Information: Asneha enjoys going to restaurants around the city as well as actively participating in charitible causes to help advance pediatric cancer research. Goals and Accomplishments: Asneha will be starting a fellowship in pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Northwestern next year. She also recently placed 3rd in a clinical vignette competition with a presentation on Factor V Deficiency. She is Co-Captain of Hope's Curesearch Committee.
	Anushka Kinra, DO Medical School: Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: UT Southwestern - Human Biology: Pathogenesis and Immunity Hometown: College Station, TX What I like about Hope: "I like the comfortable environment at Hope. It's always easy to ask a question or take a moment to discuss something with an attending or subspecialist. Everyone is focused on teaching." Personal Information: Anushka enjoys dancing and is focused on planning her wedding to the love of her life, fellow peds resident Ali. Goals and Accomplishments: Anushka has presented a poster presentation on Neonatal Hemochromatosis.
	Nina Muhammad, DO Medical School: Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: Indiana University Northwest - Biology, Minor in Chemistry Hometown: Chicago (born at christ hospital)/Indiana What I like about Hope: "I like how focused our program is on supporting residents and helping them achieve their goals. Attendings will go out of their way to help you with research goals or fellowship applications." Personal Information: Nina is known for her high standards, strong work ethic, and dedication to pediatric Emergency Medicine. Goals and Accomplishments: Nina is very involved in a QI project about a pediatric Sim Lab. She also has articles accepted into Pediatric in Review on JMML and has presented a poster on the same topic. Nina is on the Pediatric Performance Improvement Committee. She is currently applying for fellowship positions in Pediatric EM.
	Megan Muscia, DO (Chief Resident 2012-2013) Medical School: Michigan State University college of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: Michigan State University - Kinesiology Hometown: Calls Chicago home, but has lived in IN, TN, and MI as well What I like about Hope: "What I like about Hope is how connected all the residents are. We all get along and help each other out. All of the attendings are very approachable and always willing to answer questions." Personal Information: Megan is known for her friendly demeanor and she enjoys spending her free time with her husband and family. Goals and Accomplishments: Megan is interested in Pediatric Endocrinology. Megan is co-captain of Hope's CureSearch Committee.
	Hana Niebur, MD Medical School: University of Nebraska Undergraduate Education and Major: Saint Louis University - Biology and Music Hometown: Grand Island, NE What I like about Hope: "I like the variety of patients, attendings' dedication to resident education, and Waffle Thursday." Personal Information: Hana is originally from Nebraska and come from a family of pediatricians. Her interests include travel, the fine arts, and shoe shopping. Goals and Accomplishments: Hana will be starting an Allergy and Immunology Fellowship at the University of South Flordia All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg next year. She has presented posters at the Advocate Research Forum and the Clinical Immunological Society Annual Meeting. She will Have a case report published in Peds in Review Index of Suspicion in January 2014.
	Ben Smith-Donald, MD Medical School: University of Chicago Pritzger Medical School Undergraduate Education and Major: Amherst college - Neuroscience Postgraduate Education: Amherst College - Ph.D. Virology Hometown: San Francisco What I like about Hope: "Hope is a supportive environment with a diverse patient population." Personal Information: Ben is a dedicated husband and father and enjoys running with his twin brother. Goals and Accomplishments: Ben is interested in becoming a general pediatrician.
	Catherine Taylor, MD Medical School: Rush Medical College Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Chicago - Biological Sciences What I like about Hope: "I like the attendings and program leadership as well as the medically and culturally diverse patient population." Personal Information: Cathy completed serveral years of neurosurgery training prior to switching to pediatrics. Goals and Accomplishments: Cathy is applying to PICU fellowships with an ultimate goal of becoming a pediatric neurointensivist. Cathy is also on the Pediatric Ethics Committee.
	Sylvia Trevino, MD Medical School: University of Illinois at Chicago Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Illinois at Chicago - Biochemistry Hometown: Plano, IL What I like about Hope: "Hope is a supportive environment with a diverse patient population and strong teaching faculty." Personal Information: Sylvia enjoys spending her free time traveling with her husband. Goals and Accomplishments: Sylvia is working on a QI project on pediatric vision screening. Sylvia is also on Hope's Graduate Medical Education Committee.
	Tennille Nkechi Webb, MD Medical School: Morehouse School of Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: Tuskegee University - Chemical Engineering Hometown:Tuskegee, AL What I like about Hope: "I absolutely love the teaching that takes place at Hope. There is nothing like it. There is not a day that you leave work and feel as if you have not been exposed to general pediatrics as well as unique and interesting cases. The enthusiasm of the Attendings and their display of knowledge is extraordinary. This is what makes Hope very unique to me." Personal Information: Tennille's favorite past-time is dancing (Jazz and Modern). She believes this would have been her 2nd calling if she had not pursued medicine. She also enjoys playing the piano, shopping (especially for shoes) and meeting new people. Goals and Accomplishments: Tennille will be starting a Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh beginning July 2012. She has presented posters at the Advocate Research Forum in 2010 (Urachal Cyst Presenting as an Abdominal Abscess) and 2011 (Suspicion for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and ERCP in the Pediatric Community Hospital). She will be presenting a poster at the NASPGHAN conference in October 2011 (ERCP in the Pediatric Community Hospital) with a fellow resident. She have publications accepted in Pediatrics in Review and pending publication in Pediatric Annals. Upon completion of her fellowship she plan to return South and pursue a position in Pediatric Nephrology Academia.
	Sarah Ziegler, DO Medical School: Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Michigan - Literature, Science, Arts Hometown: Litchfield, MI What I like about Hope: "I am really impressed with the relationships established between residents and attendings - The rapport that is easily established through our daily interactions and patient care. It's a warm, fuzzy feeling to know that the people you work with will be supportive." Personal Information: Sarah's Life outside of Hope is usually Filled with Spending as much time as possible outside- whether it be training, trying new restaurants, or frolicking through the city. She is happiest with friends, frozen yogurt, and sunshine. She is looking forwards to adding "puppy" to that list! Goals and Accomplishments: Sarah will be working as a general pediatrician through the National Health Service Corps. Hopefully it will not be in the middle of Alaska working in an igloo with polar bears, but in an urban underserved area. One day Sarah plans to have her own clinic in Central America. Sarah also is on the Pediatric Ethics Committee.

	Minh-Y Canh, DO Medical School: Midwestern University Undergraduate Education and Major: Loyola University - BS in Biology and minor in French; MS in Cell Biology, Cell Biology and Anatomy What I like about Hope: "I chose to come to Hope because of the supportive environment, dedication to teaching, the extensive exposure to varied disease processes, and the diverse patient population." Personal Information: Once a city girl, Minh-Y now lives with her husband and daughter in the Western Suburbs. In her free time Minh-Y keeps busy watching her daughter explore and grow, spending time with her family and friends, singing, playing piano, traveling, and cooking. Goals and Accomplishments: Minh-Y is interested in Primary Care/Outpatient pediatrics.
	Allison Croucher, DO Medical School: Midwestern University Undergrad Education and Major: Eastern Illinois University - Biology What I like about Hope: "After rotating at Hope as medical student I was extremely impressed with both the diverse range of patients and the pathology seen here. The positive work environment at Hope and the large amount of teaching done here also helped me know that Hope was the place for me." Personal Information: Allison enjoys swimming and spending time with her husband, son, and friends. Goals and Accomplishments: Allison is interested in Cardiology and in working on a QI project that involves optimizing the care for newborns.
	Corrie Fletcher, DO Medical School: Midwestern University - Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: Seattle Pacific University - Classics with Ancient Language Focus; minor - Chemistry, Biology What I like about Hope: "As a resident, I feel that Hope provides all the opportunities that I was looking for in a program. We have patient diversity both socioeconomically as well as ethnically. We are a referral center for a large part of Southwest Chicago and Northern Indiana and because of that we see a good mix of general pediatrics + sub-specialty. On all our rotations we work one-on-one with the attendings who are at Hope not just because they love kids but also because they enjoy teaching the residents. This was one of the most striking things I have learned about the program--the faculty genuinely want to invest in you as a pediatrician and help you grow and become your fullest potential. And lastly, there are lots of opportunities to continue the academic side of medicine from teaching medical students to presenting research posters." Personal Information: Corrie enjoys backpacking- from the Olympics in Washington to the Dominican Republic she have slept in tents and climbed mountains. She believes that nothing, however, compares to the Tetons in Colorado. Goals and Accomplishments: Corrie presented two posters at the Advocate Research Forum in 2011 including Suspicion for Systemic Lupus Erythematosis and a case series of leukemia cutis presenting in teenage males with AML. She currently has two QI projects, one involving improving time to first neonatal follow-up and the other on CXR use in asthma. Corrie is on the Pediatric Ethics Committee.
	Gabrielle Geddes, MD Medical School: University of Illinois - Rockford Undergraduate Education and Major: Northern Illinois University - Biology What I like about Hope: "I chose to come to Hope because of the diverse patient population and the camaraderie among the residents" Personal Information: Elle is known around the hospital for the colorful birds she wears in her hair. Goals and Accomplishments: Elle is interested in becoming involved in medical education for residents and medical students. Elle also is on the Pediatric Perfomance Improvement Committee and is involved in a QI project about the use of technology in resident education.
	Patricia Notario, MD Medical School: Georgetown University School of Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: Georgetown University - Biology What I like about Hope: "My Favorite part of being at Hope is how interested everyone is in making sure you are learning. It's also amazing to see how motivated the hospital staff is to make sure children get the best care. The pathology is extremely interesting and varied and the kids are just so darn cute!" Personal Information: Pati loves to spend time with her husband Robbie (an ER resident at Christ), swim and do jigsaw puzzles. Goals and Accomplishments: Pati is interested in doing general pediatrics with a focus on advocacy work and academics. Pati presented a poster at the advocate research forum and will be presenting a poster at the NASPGHAN annual international conference. She is working on a project to evaluate the effects of a medical home clinic for our medically and socially complex patients. Pati is also on Hope's Graduate Medical Education Committee.
	Sofia Padilla, MD Medical School: University of Illinois at Chicago Undergraduate Education and Major: University of California, San Diego - Human Development What I like about Hope: "I really enjoy the team atmosphere, not only among residents, but with attendings, nurses, and all other staff. I truly appreciated the fact that everyone here was very willing to help guide me as a student while treating me as part of the team. The amount of teaching that happens on a daily basis during morning report, working rounds, and teaching rounds, on top of the protected lecture time that residents have is why I continue to be happy here at Hope." Personal Information: Sofia enjoys running and spending time with her family. Goals and Accomplishments: Sofia is interested in Primary care and Endocrinology.
	Nora Philbin, DO Medical School: Touro University - College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: Illinois State University - Anthropology and History What I like about Hope: "Hope has a great supportive and proactive environment. Everyone works together to achieve the best for our patients." Personal Information: Nora grew up on the South Side and considers herself a true South Side Irish gal. She considers herself an expert on the local area and is glad to answer questions. Goals and Accomplishments: Nora will be going into Primary Care/General Pediatrics. She is interested in focusing on obesity prevention, detection, and treatment. She is currently involved in the Hope for Fitness program.
	Nicole Pretet, DO Medical School: Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate and Major: University of Notre Dame, Science Preprofessional & Psychology Hometown: New Lenox, IL What I like about Hope: "Once I had the opportunity to rotate at Hope as a student, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. There is a collaborative work environment, quality daily teaching, diverse patient population and pathology, and attendings who are dedicated to the education of students and residents. I also love that we still find time to have fun together!" Personal Information: Nicole loves traveling, sporting events, and spending time enjoying the amazing city of Chicago. Goals and Accomplishments: Nicole plans on doing primary care in the chicagoland area after residency. She is also interested in international service work and would like to continue doing medical trips to underserved areas. She has previously done work in Brazil, Guatemala, and Mexico.
	Thomas Roberts, DO Medical School: Midwestern University - Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: Eastern Illinois University - Biology What I like about Hope: "Hope is a community-based program that covers urban, suburban, and rural pediatric medicine. I continue to be impressed with the acuity, patient volume, and subspecialty coverage I see here at Hope." Personal Information: Tom enjoys spending time with his family and enjoys heavy metal music. Goals and Accomplishments: Tom is interested in primary care.
	Ellen Shen, DO Medical School: Touro University - College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Pennsylvania - Biological Basis of Behavior What I like about Hope: "I love the scope of patholgy seen here, the patient population, and all of the residents' ethusiasm for the program. Hope is a wonderful place to be." Personal Information: Ellen enjoys studying geography and spending time with her family. Goals and Accomplishments: Ellen is interested in Endocrinology and Primary Care.
	Kirsten Sorum, DO Medical School: Midwestern University - Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Wisconsin-Madison - Biology and Spanish Hometown: Wauwatosa, WI What I like about Hope: "I chose Hope not only because of the diverse patient population, but also the diversity of pathology seen here. As a third-year medical student, I was impressed with the strength of the didactics and strong emphasis on teaching. Plus, Hope has the happiest residents!!" Personal Information: Kirsten has a naughty little dog at home named Dwayne who she adopted during medical school. She enjoys playing soccer, cooking, and shopping for antique furniture in her free time. And being from Wisconsin, she is an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Go Packers! 	Jake Tabel, MD Medical School: University of Illinois at Chicago Undergraduate Education and Major: Loyola University Chicago - Biology What I like about Hope: "What I like about Hope is how happy everyone is. I knew that if I were to commit myself to a program for three years I would want it to be someplace where I could be happy while I learned." Personal Information: Jake is known for his eccentric sense of humor and interest in cartoons. Goals and Accomplishments: Jake is interested in Primary Care.
	Joshua Wong, MD Medical School: Rosalind Franklin University - Chicago Medical School Undergraduate Education and Major: Stanford University - Chemical Engineering What I like about Hope: "I like the diversity in terms patient ethnicities (African-American, Polish, Arabic, Asian), patient demographics (urban and rural, rich and poor) and mixture of both common and rare diseases. I like that we get to see patients with high acuity diseases or injuries. We see the most complicated congenital cardiac diseases that rival any academic institution in the country. I like the family feel between residents and attendings. It's very easy to approach everyone, from community attendings to general faculty to subspecialists. I can say without a doubt that the primary goal of all the general faculty here (other than patient care of course) is teaching. I have never been left with a question unanswered. I love my fellow residents. I am comfortable asking any of my fellow residents for help or to cover me if I need. I think resident dinner is a great Saturday night outing. They have truly become my friends in addition to coworkers." Personal Information: Josh loves sports of all kinds. He will talk about or play almost any sport you can think of. He is generally a very quiet guy, unless the SF Giants are winning the world series or the US Women's soccer team is scoring last second goals to stave off elimination. Josh also loves fantasy sports, and is involved in 2-3 football, basketball, and baseball fantasy teams yearly. Goals and Accomplishments: Josh plans to apply for pediatric cardiology fellowship. Josh is involved in multiple research projects with the cardiology program here at Hope. Josh recently received a grant from the AAP to study the correlation of abdominal near infrared spectometry with meeding intolerance in Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome following Stage 1 Norwood Palliation.

	Kim Arvidson, DO Medical School: Midwestern University Undergraduate Education: Miami University Hometown: Palatine, IL What I Like About Hope: "I chose Hope because of the excellent experiences I had during my core pediatrics rotation and Sub-I at Hope. I love the emphasis the program places on quality teaching. I am also impressed with the interesting pathology that is seen at Hope and the diverse patient population that Hope serves." Personal Information: Kim was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, and is a huge fan of Chicago and all it has to offer-especially the blackhawks! Kim also enjoys wine tasting, scrapbooking, and baking. Goals and Accomplishments: Kim is interested in General Pediatrics. She is currently working on a QI project involving time-to-antibiotics in patients with neutropenic fever.
	Colleen Hoehne, DO Medical School: Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: Michigan State University, Microbiology & Molecular Genetics Hometown: South Lyon, MI Languages: Spanish, English What I Like About Hope: "I chose Hope Children's Hospital because of the excellent camaraderie between the residents, attendings, and support staff. Everyone always has a smile on their face and says, 'Hello!'" Personal Information: Colleen grew up in Michigan, but has lived all over the lovely Midwest as well as North Carolina. Having spent four years of undergrad and four years of medical school at MSU, she really loves her Spartans! In her spare time she enjoys checking out the endless great restruants in Chicago, meeting up with friends for trivia night, and spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors. Goals and Accomplishments: Currently, Colleen is planning on pursuing general peds. Having spent several months in Africa & Peru during medical school she would like to further her interest in international medicine and obtain an MPH.
	April Jones, DO Medical School: Demoines University Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Northern Iowa, Biology Hometown: Ankeny, Iowa What I like about Hope: "It's hard to list everything I like about Hope, but it wasn't just the amazing churros at lunch or meeting Brian Urlacher that persuaded me to choose Hope. Hope offers not only an amazing range of pathology, but also an extremely friendly atmosphere with attendings dedicated to resident education." Personal Information: In April's spare time she loves to play with her pug, Lola, spend way too much money at Anthropologie, collect owls and either go for a run or watch one of her favorite movies. Goals and Accomplishments: April is interested in Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, and Neurology.
	Cristina Kim, DO Medical School: University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Undergraduate Education and Major: Rutgers University- Biology & Spanish Hometown: Lumberton, NJ Languages: Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, English What I like about Hope: "The things I like about Hope are: Dedication to resident education, Great amount of pathology, friendly reisdents and family-like environment, Large spanish speaking population, located in the suburbs with a great city nearby!" Personal Information: Cristina decided it was time for a new adventure and happily just relocated here from New Jersey. She enjoys napping, hanging out in small groups (large groups are intimidating!), playing the piano, completing jigsaw puzzles, singing karaoke (in the privacy of her parents' home), watching World Cup Soccer (mandatory having been born in Brazil) and traveling. Goals/Accomplishments: Cristina is interested in primary care, but open to other possibilities as she gains more experience.
	Kacie McMahon, DO Medical School: Midwestern University Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Illinois at Chicago, Biology Hometown: Frankfort, IL What I like about Hope: "Everything! I completed my third year peds rotation as well as a fourth year Sub-I at Hope. I knew from day one that I wanted to complete my residency here. I love the people who work here and the patients!" Personal Information: Kacie was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and is an avid sports fan (White Sox, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks). She is interested in baking, Interior design, reading, spending time with family and friends, and smiling. Goals and Accomplishments: Kacie is interested in pursuing further training in a subspecialty of pediatrics that remains undecided due to her interest and enjoyment of all fields. She is also interested in academics and resident training.
	Joseph O'Connell, DO Medical School: Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Notre Dame, Science & Business Hometown: Burr Ridge, IL What I like about Hope: "I chose Hope because it was a great place to work as a student. All of the attendings and residents are awesome and invested in you. The program does things the right way and looks out for you as a person, not to mention, it's in the best city in the world- Chicago!" Personal Information: Joe grew up in Burr Ridge, IL and enjoys playing basketball and volleyball. Joe is a big time Notra Dame football fan and really likes watching "The Office" and "Modern Family." He misses "LOST" more than anything! Goals and Accomplishments: Joe is interested in Endocrinology and Sports Medicine. Joe is also on Hope's Technology Committee.
	Molly Phillips, DO Medical School: Midwestern University Undergraduate Education and Major: Augustana College, Biology What I like about Hope: "While rotating at Hope during my fourth year of medical school it was easy to recognize the strong dedication to education. I also noticed the attending physician's willingness to engage residents and explain concepts. It was the camaraderie among the residents and the staff that convinced me it was the place I wanted to spend the next three years." Personal Information: Molly enjoys playing softball and played for four years for Augustana College. We have excellent fellowship placement and a high level of responsibility for patient care. At Hope we interact more directly with attendings than other programs and we have a wide array of specialty exposure. I felt Hope was a place I could thrive at." Personal Information: Julia lives in LaGrange Park with her husband, daughter, and two cats. She spends her free time watching Dr. Who, other British TV shows, and anime with her husband. She also can knit and crochet. Goals/Accomplishments: Julia is interested in NICU and Rheumatology.
	Kristy Pilbeam, DO Medical School: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Pittsburgh, Political Science Hometown: Kentwood, MI Languages: Spanish, English What I like about Hope: "When I came here to do a rotation I knew Hope Children's stood out. Residents, faculty, and staff loved having students around and loved teaching. Residents were well supported and genuinely happy. Hope is also a very busy hospital with a lot of pathology, which I found exciting." Personal Information: Kristy loves to travel, cook, and run. Goals and Accomplishments: Kristy is interested in Hematology/Oncology and International Medicine.
	Jessica Reggi, DO Medical School: Midwestern University Undergraduate Education and Major: Northwestern University, Environmental Science Hometown: Darien, IL What I like about Hope: "I knew that I wanted to be a resident at Hope Children's Hospital after my fourth year Sub-I. The teaching was the most informative and interactive I had experienced and I knew I wanted to receive my training in this kind of environment. Most Importantly, I wanted to come to Hope because of the wonderful mentors that I had met and worked with as a student. I truly felt that coming here would be like becoming part of a family." Personal Information: Jess Loves spending time with her family, two pugs, cooking, and yoga. She also enjoys the TV show Friday night Lights. Goals/Accomplishments: Jess is interested in General Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine, and is working on a STI screening and treatment Teen Guideline QI Project.

I look forward to continuing to train in a busy, urban medical center." Personal Information: Nick lives in Chicago with his wife (an emergency room physician), son and two cats. Nick enjoys running, cooking, and throwing a frisbee around. Whenever he can he is outside working in the sunshine. 	Alicia Lenzen, MD Medical School: Brown University Medical School Undergraduate Education and Major: Brown University, Psychology Hometown: Chicago, IL What I Like About Hope: "Growning up on the South Side, I've liked Hope ever since I was a little kid since my pediatrician and sick visits were affiliated with Christ and Hope. Now I like it even more because of the incredible attendings, friendly residents, large and diverse patient population, and oppurtunities for my future." Personal Information: Alicia grew up on the South Side of Chicago and married her high school sweetheart. She likes to travel with her older brother. In her free time she loves hanging out with her family and friends, running, playing the violin and going to Chicago sports games (except the Cubs) Goals and Accomplishments: Alicia is interested in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
	Susan Woo, MD Medical School: Wright State University Undergraduate Education and Major: University of Cincinnati, Biology and Psychology PostGraduate Education: Georgetown, MS Hometown: Roselle, IL Languages: English, Korean What I like about Hope: "I thought Hope would offer me the best training. As a free-standing Children's hospital and the second busiest pediatric program in Illinois, Hope has a great reputation for its diverse pathophysiology. The residents are such a close-knit group and it was apparent that the attendings enjoyed teaching. I also enjoy it's proximity to downtown Chicago." Personal Information: Susan likes running, boxing, ethnic food, outdoor cafes, coffee, HGTV, the food network, and spending free time with her friends and family. Goals and Accomplishments: Susan is interested in Neonatology.
